If you are visiting the clinic for the first time, or if you are a patient of ours returning with a new complaint, you will always have a longer appointment. The primary aim of this appointment is to take time to listen to your story in detail, perform a relevant physical examination and lay out a clear plan with details of the strategies we can put in place to help you.
If you have a complex complaint with a long history or attend with multiple issues, then during the first session we may only be able to establish the plan and provide initial advice. If this is the case then it is likely you will need to book a follow up appointment in order to begin working on the things that we have recommended. The majority of cases are more straight forwards than this and the clinician will have time to get started on implementing some of the strategies that we recommend. A follow up appointment is not always required.
How long will my appointment last?
All initial appointments for private pay patients are approximately 60 minutes. Follow up appointments are 45 minutes.
*Please note that for women’s specialist pelvic health physiotherapy (including obstetrics and gynaecology) initial appointments are 1 hour and follow ups are 30 minutes.
Time frames for appointments when funded by insurance policies are variable and often shorter depending on your specific provider.
Sports massage appointments are either 30 or 45 minutes depending on patient choice at time of booking.
